Israpil Shovkhalov: Journal „DOSH“, Moscow

Biography

Israpil Magomedovich Shovkhalov was born on 27th April 1969 in Grozny. In 1987 he completed secondary school and the “School of young correspondents” at the Checheno-Ingush Republic “Gosteleradio”, for whom Israpil then worked as a correspondent until receiving his call-up for the army in the autumn of that year. In 1990 he entered the physics-mathematics faculty of the Checheno-Ingush State University. For the next four years whilst studying, Israpil continued to work for the “Gosteleradio” as a correspondent, editor of youth programmes, author and anchor for the popular artistic-publicist programme “Studia-AZ (The Voice)”. In 1995 Israpil entered the faculty of philology and journalism at the Rostov State University. During the following year he worked as a correspondent for the youth newspaper, “Republic”. Between 1996 and 1998 Israpil worked as the editor of the artistic-publicist programmes, author and anchor of the popular programme “Dagaletsamash (Rememberances)” on the state television of the Chechen Republic. He also began working as an assistant to the deputy of the “Yabloko” fraction in the Russian Federation Duma in 1998.

Israpil graduated from the Rostov State University in 2000 as a specialist in journalism. Since then, he worked as the editor for the press service of the Russian investigative centre for human rights. As of 2003, Israpil works as the chief editor of the magazine “Dosh (The Word)”.
